(a) · Interns & volunteers

The people who set the extra places.

Every gathering we host runs on people who showed up early and stayed to help stack the chairs. If you want to be one of them, this is where you start.

(b) · Ways to help

Pick the work that fits you

Story nights

Help welcome guests, set up the room, and keep the conversation warm. You'll meet cooks, elders, and families with recipes worth recording.

Story collection

Sit with a home cook, photograph a kitchen, or transcribe a memory so a recipe arrives with the person attached to it.

Community events

Support potlucks, tastings, and cultural celebrations, from the sign-in table to the last plate cleared.

Translation and interpretation

Help a family share their story in the language they think in, and help our materials reach more neighbors.

Research and archives

Trace the history behind a dish, verify a family's account, and help build a culinary archive that outlasts any one of us.

Communications

Photograph a table, write a recap, or shape a post that invites the next person to pull up a chair.

(c) · What you get

More than a line on a résumé

  • A mentor on the team who works with you directly
  • A letter of recommendation once your term is complete
  • Real responsibility, not coffee duty
  • A seat at every gathering you help run

(d) · How to join

  1. 1Tell us what you'd like to help with and when you're free.
  2. 2We'll meet for coffee or a call and walk you through the work.
  3. 3You'll start alongside a team member and take it from there.

Our interns and volunteers

We're building this roster now. As each term begins, the interns and volunteers who served with us will be named here, with the work they did and the dishes they helped bring to the table. If you'd like to be part of the first list, tell us who you are.
