The table, in pictures.

We keep these off the home page so the words can have the room they need. Here they get theirs: kitchens, markets, and the meals that came out of both. Photographs are one shelf of a wider collection. Recipes, sketches, stories, and interviews sit on the others.

Maryann C. Calia

Born and raised in Boston

Maryann went to Boston College and Boston University, then spent a career in Massachusetts state government: helping move the Health Care Act, the Green Communities Act, and the Marriage Equality Act, and later working to end life without parole for people convicted as children. She now serves on the New England Innocence Project's Policy Committee. Food was the thread through all of it, the way she got to know the people she was trying to reach. She loves culinary experiences and writes about them, and we are honored to have her at our table, helping us sharpen our voice and widen our reach.

A photograph, a sketch, a recipe card, a recording, or the story behind any of it. If you made it, we'd like to see it, and we'll credit you the same way we credit everyone here.
